Supporting your Dog's development

Just as humans develop and move through life stages, so do pets. During each life stage, the right balance of specific dietary nutrition is required to support particular growth and development needs. This is why the OPTIMUM® range for pets is specifically tailored to meet the growing changes of your four legged friend. This section of your OPTIMUM Pet Profile contains information on what you can expect during each life transition stage.

Milestones in a Dog’s Life

What happens as your puppy becomes and adult dog?

As your puppy transitions to an adult dog it needs different levels of nutrition to meet its daily dietary requirements.

There are many physical changes in its size, shape and activity levels. All of these changes take place in a relatively short time when compared to human development.

It’s important to note that your puppy will transition to an adult according to its breed and size. Smaller breeds mature much faster than larger breeds, however all puppies will experience similar changes as they grow into an adult dog.

As your adult dog matures it needs different levels of nutrition to meet its daily dietary requirements and adjust to particular life stage changes.

Over time you’ll notice small changes in the areas of vitality and behavior. Just as we age and begin to slow down, so will your dog.

often age slower than large breeds
and generally have a longer life expectancy.
